Teach by Example-Technology Education Blog is located on MySpace.com. I chose this blog because it focuses on using technology in schools and taking advantage of the library and its many offerings. This is a lot like my blog topic which deals with the collaboration of teachers and librarians and using technology in the classroom.
Specific Facet First Search Using Dialog #6
In the Specific Facet First search using Dialog, I searched for "Public schools and technology. I received 977 hits. Here is a screen shot of the hits page that showed 10 hits at a time.

The first hit did not cover my blog topic but the sixth hit produced a great result. Here is the screen shot of the 6th hit.

I really had to play with Dialog in order to find hits that dealt with my blog topic. Even after altering my search language, I had to dig through the results to find what was relevant for me. I would not turn to Dialog as a method of searching at this time.

Citation Pearl Search Using ERIC (Ebscohost) #6
For my Citation Pearl Search, I first did a Building Block Search using the following technique:
S1 – collaboration with teachers or working with teachers
S2 – technology or computer or internet
S3 – education or school or classroom
I then found a hit that fit my blog topic and used the “descriptors” from that hit to form the following Citation Pearl Search:
S1 –academic achievement or secondary elementary education or information literacy
S2 – librarian teacher cooperation or administrator role
S3 – school libraries or librarians
Descriptors:
Information Literacy, Library Services, School Libraries, Internet, Academic Achievement, Librarian Teacher Cooperation, Librarians, Flexible Scheduling, Principals, Administrator Role, Elementary Secondary Education
There were 160 hits
Here is the screen shot of the search results:

Here is a screen shot for hit #7.

There were some hits that were not relevant to my specific blog topic but there were also many that were. Hit #7 was really interesting (I read the entire article) and really discussed the ideas that I hope to incorporate into a school library when I become a librarian myself. This is the essence of my blog topic.

Successive Fractions Search Using LibLit #6
Successive Fractions Search using LibLit
S1 – technology (the broadest facet) yielded 16,766 hits
S2 – combine S1 and collaboration or working with teachers yielded 329 hits
S3 – combine S1 and S2 and education or school yielded 121 hits
Here is the screen shot from this search:

Here is the screen shot from the first hit of the results:

This search had results that unfocused. The results did narrow with each added facet but the results were not as useable to me based on my blog topic. For me this search was the hardest one. Since I started with the largest facet first I felt it produced results that were unnecessary for my purposes.

Building Block search strategy in LexisNexis:
S1 – working with classroom teachers or collaborating with teachers
S2 – technology or computer or internet
S3 – education or public schools or classroom

The two best hits are number 6 and 1. Hit number 6 is an article that describes the role school librarians play and their importance of teaching as well as incorporating technology into the school. Hit number 1 is an article about a school librarian who won an award for her collaboration with teachers. These articles really connected with my blog topic. Generation YES #2
The following link is to a blog called Connect-Ed@TIE that discusses my topic of integrating technology into education and the classrooms. I used http://www.technorati.com/ to search for the blog that I found. The blog has a link to Generation YES that discusses this topic. Here is the link: http://tieteach.blogspot.com/2007/09/generation-yes.html and a short excerpt from the blog:
Generation YES has wonderful technology integration ideas for teachers. Students work with teachers to bring effective technology into the classrooms and libraries. The resulting collaboration provides the students with project-based learning and teachers with on-site, sustainable professional development. It is suitable forElementary, Middle, and High School.

Technology in the Classroom #1
This blog is intended to discuss matters related to secondary school libraries and media centers. I want to explore the possibility of librarians facilitating and implementing the use of technology in schools and in classrooms. All too often, classroom teachers have very little time to integrate technology (i.e. computers, internet, etc...) into their already overloaded curriculum and TAKS objectives. The librarian or media specialist can work in conjunction with the teacher to develop ideas and projects for the students to explore the topics using technology and ensuring that the standards and objectives are met.
Please note that I am a student at this time and not a librarian. I am an 8th grade U.S. History teacher in Texas.
