Citation Pearl Search Using ERIC (Ebscohost) #6

For my Citation Pearl Search, I first did a Building Block Search using the following technique:
S1 – collaboration with teachers or working with teachers
S2 – technology or computer or internet
S3 – education or school or classroom

I then found a hit that fit my blog topic and used the “descriptors” from that hit to form the following Citation Pearl Search:

S1 –academic achievement or secondary elementary education or information literacy
S2 – librarian teacher cooperation or administrator role
S3 – school libraries or librarians

Descriptors:

Information Literacy, Library Services, School Libraries, Internet, Academic Achievement, Librarian Teacher Cooperation, Librarians, Flexible Scheduling, Principals, Administrator Role, Elementary Secondary Education
There were 160 hits
Here is the screen shot of the search results:

Here is a screen shot for hit #7.

There were some hits that were not relevant to my specific blog topic but there were also many that were. Hit #7 was really interesting (I read the entire article) and really discussed the ideas that I hope to incorporate into a school library when I become a librarian myself. This is the essence of my blog topic.

Successive Fractions Search Using LibLit #6

Successive Fractions Search using LibLit
S1 – technology (the broadest facet) yielded 16,766 hits
S2 – combine S1 and collaboration or working with teachers yielded 329 hits
S3 – combine S1 and S2 and education or school yielded 121 hits
Here is the screen shot from this search:

Here is the screen shot from the first hit of the results:

This search had results that unfocused. The results did narrow with each added facet but the results were not as useable to me based on my blog topic. For me this search was the hardest one. Since I started with the largest facet first I felt it produced results that were unnecessary for my purposes.

Building Block Search Using Lexis Nexis #6

Building Block search strategy in LexisNexis:

S2 – technology or computer or internet
S3 – education or public schools or classroom

The two best hits are number 6 and 1. Hit number 6 is an article that describes the role school librarians play and their importance of teaching as well as incorporating technology into the school. Hit number 1 is an article about a school librarian who won an award for her collaboration with teachers. These articles really connected with my blog topic.
